Our Services

All international flight operations are conducted with two pilots.

SPAA operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Medevac enquiries can be made through the ProMedical Vanuatu co-ordination centre, locally on 115 and internationally on +678 552 5585

Being based in Port Vila ensures the advantage of critical rapid response time for medevacs out of Vanuatu and the South Pacific. In the time it takes Australian or New Zealand-based companies to deliver aircraft and medical crew, SPAA will have already completed the coordination process, secured hospital admission, and have the patient and our medical team airborne.

Our team handles every aspect of your medical transfer, from contacting and liaising with the insurance/assistance company, to complete coordination of ground transportation and the medical flight.

MEDICAL CAPABILITIES

The South Pacific Air Ambulance medical and paramedical team consists of emergency physicians, intensive care, and advanced life support paramedics.

The SPAA team can deliver intensive care to patients in-flight utilising specialist medical equipment very similar to what you would find in any intensive care unit or emergency department in major metropolitan hospitals of Australia, allowing SPAA to manage patients who may require procedures such as oral intubation, rapid sequence intubation and mechanical ventilation, defibrillation, cardioversion, intraosseous insertion, intravenous medication infusions etc. Our patient cohort ranges from paediatric to geriatric and encompasses any patient requiring specialized medical care services.

SPAA also provides non-emergent aeromedical patient transport with paramedic escorts for those patients who are able to sit up and are stable.

AIRCRAFT CAPABILITIES

Our fleet of aircraft provides a practical “horses for courses” approach to all retrieval and aeromedical transportation scenarios. The mainstay of the operation is our dedicated Merlin Air Ambulance, fully equipped for aero-medical operations. The Merlin is a high performance jet-prop aircraft with sufficient range for medical flights from Vanuatu to Australia and New Zealand. Together with our Cessna and Islander aircraft, we can retrieve patients from remote airstrips of Vanuatu to airfields where the Merlin Air Ambulance can then transfer them internationally. This versatility and combination of assets assures efficient, cohesive, and expedient medical transfer missions.

All SPAA aircraft are operated and maintained in accordance with the stringent rules of the Civil Aviation Authorities of New Zealand and Vanuatu and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). All aircraft are authorised for air ambulance operations.

We are committed to providing safe, compassionate, immediate and efficient air medical transportation within Vanuatu and internationally, servicing the South Pacific and Australasia.
